Foreword
For my words in, morning tasting whispers,
I have collaborated with ghosts. I have danced with magic and I have
swallowed lush and kindred love. Vibrant and fragrant scents of mud and
yearning have infused me with possibility.
Of dew-soaked swelling and benign and malignant longing. I had to dig the bones. I had to reflesh a myth.
Respond to a cry for a new voice. A whisper spoke to me of the death of
a young woman, Elizabeth, whose body was found in a field. A mystery not
solved, yet one that screamed to be made known. I chose to speak for her
and my very own self, and for others, whose lives beg to be heard. Each poem speaks to a query a pondering that
wafted its way in the form of images beckoning to me in the very early
reaches of morning, when all manner of whisper wishes to be answered,
screams to be known. My love and gratitude flow fully to Richard Paul
McKenna, my partner, who created a cover for this work that verily hums
with the shape of listening to the poems, and that exquisitely partakes
in a symbiotic dance with the each piece itself. I wish to thank, Playwright, Robert Winslow for
his dialogue which inspired me to shape a movement with my work, that
held no fear of trespassing in the dark shadowy fields of the psyche’s
will to take flight, to dance daily, with both calm and chaotic rhythm. As always my love streams to my daughters,
Olivia and Jessica, and their beloved cat, Mr. Othello, who prick my
skin and ignite my soul with a yearning to inspire them to taste of
living lushly, liberally, and well. And I would be remiss in not stating
that often when weariness and overfull days cause me to wish to bury my
head or run and hide, they remind me ‘to walk’ figuratively and
literally, in order to find sustenance. I bid you rich enjoyment with my words, hoping
that you will find kindred connecting here. Sincerely, Order
