Transition and Transformation
At Palabras Press, we are answering the poignant invitation to focus our eZine in a direction that speaks to writing, to words/palabras, poetry, prose poetry, as both art and healing. We are in the process of focusing our Vision in the area of Social Justice and Hope. With the birth of The Sawbonna Project http://www.Sawbonna.com and with my unfolding involvement in Restorative Justice and Transformative Justice, specifically my work with continuing to offer workshops and talks about how writing your own voice affords you a way to face all that you are, all that you know and do not know, we are going to offer content in a new way, and from expanded sources. With Professor Howard Zehrs vital content and ongoing support, with Sister Helen Prejeans inspiring affirmation of my words and work, with Professor James Brandenburgs friendship and kindred commitment, we at Palabras Press know that the transition and transformation of our eZine, is good. Unfolding Vision
OneTo publish writing on this eZine from healers, victims, offenders, voices that know that we are inter-relational beings, dependent upon each others raw clarity and authenticity, that speaks to the fact that writing is both art and healing; TwoTo continue to add to our Publishing Press, new books that speak to and from the fact that writing is both art and healing; ThreeTo weave connections, with groups, foundations, universities, colleges, centers, societies, individuals, that believe in and honour the fact that writing is both art and healing. The
Starting Point
If
I had no choice about the age in which I was to live, I nevertheless have
a choice about the attitude I take and about the way and the extent of my
participation in its living ongoing events. To choose the world is not
merely a pious admission that the world is acceptable because it comes
from God. It is first of all an acceptance of a task and a vocation in the
world, in history and in time. In my time, which is the present. To choose
the world is to choose to do the work I am capable of doing, in
collaboration with my brother and sister, to make the world better, more
free, more just, more livable, more human. Our
eZine will answer on a deepened level, to the words that were penned by
Thomas Merton. Victim Voice, Offender Voice, Voices of the myriad of
individuals who birth language vision that speak to hope, even with all of
the savagery of which we are all aware, many having been party to creating
or receiving. We will keep you posted on all of the changes. Please be sure to
support our growing list of authors in the bookstore http://bookstore.palabras-press.com and to continue to write to us with your question and suggestions. I look
forward to meeting even more you in the virtual world of my workshops or
in-person, as I continue to have the gift of doing. In Kindred Dance With Words, Margot
