Foreword
While preparing Flexing My Muse
I have again been reminded of the power of words.
Words formed on authorized tongues can declare war or end it,
sentence or acquit the accused, rule for or against public petitions.
Whether written or spoken, words, like thoughts, always leave an
impact. They can sting,
soothe, manipulate, heal, create interest or boredom.
Whether words are placed on the page in a traditional poetic
format, free verse, or poetry merging with prose to paint the picture of
prose poetry, they are the handiwork of a poet. On page 12 of this book, I have written a poem
titled A Poet’s Purpose.
As the poem states, I have “swallowed burning emotion and
breathed flame” in my attempt to capture your interest and impact
your spirits through poetic expressions pertaining to universal
experiences and concerns, shared imagery and sensations along with
connected hopes and things not hoped for. In Flexing My Muse there is a
poem for every member of your family. I have included ballads and
children’s poetry. As you
read, my hope is that my words will bring the power of added blessings,
love, and healing to you. For purchasing information contact
