bold steps betray nothing,
speak to all.
in every little word you mime,
genius of your power surrounds
me with magnificent dreamscapes.
not fairytale fantasies.
enamoured with this misty
month’s muddied bravery,
i have been sawed in two
stitched back together
by your glance. arms
outstretched above your
head, shoulders spread
wide, posturing readiness
to be worn by other flesh.
your magician’s cape
hides nothing.

Foreword

Wonder materializes everywhere.

Enchanted horizons never cease to answer to divining. Intuition forgets to sleep. Nourishing desire, speaking sorcery, feeding possibility, quenching unbearable thirsts, are what these poems offer

Love, whispering in an endless variety of form, shape, colour.

Magic, shaping new textures, other ways of seeing.

Love, screaming from terrified void, tumultuous, sensual landscapes.

Magic, ploughing fresh fields, opening up unseen doors.

Up to and including poem thirty-seven, is the language of magic. Of conjuring imagery to taste new ways of walking. Of seeing with other eyes. Feeling with raw, bewitching want. A love affair with words and their power to transform, transcend, translate.

Each of these word dances asked for a place on a page. Eyes to embrace them. Flesh to savour their tang, their spicy resonance, to swim in their tantalizing spells.
